With the recent arrival of visvim to the Apartment shelves, it seems only fitting to highlight what is arguably the most recognisable silhouette from the brand to date. The visvim FBT sneaker has made quite am impact on the streetwear community, ever since it’s first release as a part of founder, Hiroki Nakamura’s second collection in 2001. Nakamura regards footwear as a daily tool and for this reason, believes that quiality and performance are of the highest priority. It is this search for quality that remains the driving force behind visvim design.
Since the original Elk Leather model, the FBT has taken many forms, with variations in design details and materials. The current season offers a rough suede in both Black and Camel. The design takes inspiration for the Native American moccasin with a number of leather and suede details, most notably, the skirting that wraps around the ankle. The current iteration features a solid skirt with leather tie fastening and glass beading detail.
The FBT is known for it’s quality and individuality. This may be due to the contrast between the raw materials of the upper and the more contemporary sneaker sole. The shoe is set on a replaceable Vibram sole with brand detailing on the outer back half. In creating the concept for the FBT, Nakamura was determined to design a product that would fit his criteria of quality materials and construction with a Native American influence, as well as the practicality to be worn in the city. As a result, the sneaker sole was chosen. The Vibram sole compliments the upper, creating an extremely comfortable shoe that is easy and practical to wear.

Known for their minimal aesthetic and exceptional quality, New York label Common Projects have delivered yet another strong season. Accompanied by the classic Achilles and Tournament silhouettes, this season also sees the reinvention of the Derby. The Cadet Derby is inspired by the stock military dress shoe. Constructed of a soft suede upper, this refined take on the classic dress shoe is certainly unique.
Made in Italy, the Cadet Derby sits atop a crepe sole, allowing for a heightened level of comfort and durability. The light coloured sole and canvas heel pull contrast nicely against the deep navy suede, complimenting the signature size and model number located on the back heel.

It was on a cold winters day in July of last year that we travelled to Japan to view our very first visvim collection. As we stood outside the showroom in Meguro, a small region of Tokyo, with it’s typically minimal and clean shopfront the space embodied a similar aesthetic to that of their flagship F.I.L. store in GYRE Omotesando, timber floors, antique displays and an all round rustic vibe. We have waited a long eight months to share our experience and we are now proud to announce that the collection has finally arrived in store at Apartment. It is such an honour for us at Apartment to be able to bring one of the most well respected Japanese brands and showcase them here in Brisbane.
Headed by Hiroki Nakamura, visvim is appreciated throughout the industry for being unrelenting in their pursuit of true craftsmanship. Every developmental stage of creating a visvim product is considered, whether is be from the individual craftsmen that contribute to each manufacturing process or to the methods in which their fabrics are sourced and produced; it goes without saying visvim exudes quality.
One of the first pieces to arrive in store from the new visvim collection is from the brand famous ‘Folk’ footwear line. A line that originally started in 2008, ‘Folk’ begun with the concept to produce footwear using natural materials and production techniques. Let us introduce you to the 7-Hole ’73 Folk Boot
The 7-Hole ’73 Folk Boot is hand sewn using good year welt construction. This technique is popularly used by visvim as it avoids the use of adhesives, which allows the natural fabrics to age more freely and also provides functional benefits like greater breathability. Another detail of the ‘73 Fold boot is the use of visvim’s famous vegetable tanned leather, which is a leather tanning technique that again uses natural treatments and techniques rather then the synthetics. This is a process that creates a unique sheen in the leather and allows for the natural patina ageing effect that occurs with the products use and wear.
This boot is finished with a natural cork footbed, a bamboo shank insert for greater shock absorption, natural leather outer paired with air vents for ventilation and a heavy duty RiRi zip for easy access.
The visvim ‘73 Folk Boot is available in two colour waves: black, olive and brown and beige. They tend to be generous with their sizing, so we recommend going down half a size if possible. A friendly reminder that visvim is only available for purchase in store so if you wish to purchase this item please email firstname.lastname@example.org.

Introducing the Converse First-String collaboration with British luxury brand, Hancock. The flawless production features Hancock’s patented rubber bonding process whereby a rubber solution is bonded between two layers of fabric creating a waterproof barrier. We were particularly impressed with the attention to detail seen in the engraved eyelets, embroidered heel stay and siphonia elastic print inner.
